for the past four years francesco leali kept busy running parachute alongside co-owners manfredi romano and thomas feriero, producing under different monikers and touring the globe as half of cw/a. finally back as clockwork, leali reveals a five track ep featuring some of his rugged music to date. a briery shift into foggier territories where leali explores layered sound-design and broken rhythms, something he had only hinted in his previous work. online entity depicts lealis hindrance with modern societys social networking obsession. in contrast to what these services were actually intended for, leali explains, they seem to have impacted a lot of people negatively, resulting in unnecessary resentments, misinformation and feelings of proximity when these tools can easily alienate you from reality. constantly worrying about how you want people to perceive you is absurd already, but for many of us this constant sharing has become the only way to achieve happiness, to be satisfied. in an era where all of this is getting out of hand its essential to remind yourself of the things that truly shape you as an individual. with online entity i aimed for feelings of release, mutating resentments into something positive - more physical. i imagined it as a soundtrack to an escape from these very situations. the release showcases this approach with five club-ready numbers filled with calculated, pounding drums and gloomy atmospheres, with only rare glimpses of hope scattered throughout. to round things up we mobilised fellow parachute affiliate ayarcana and serbian techno pro lag who both deliver two startling interpretations of escape sequence and rumination.

his time the tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by wayne mcghie. -the love you save- was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45! in 1972, wayne signed with record producer greg hambleton and, with former members of the hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including -love is the answer- and -the love you save- at toronto sound studios. -love is the answer- was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however -the love you save- was never relaesed. now, more than four decades later, the music of wayne mcghie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

the trap � dom & roland the only -dat- master copy of this track was lost 20 years ago in 1997 somewhere between dom s studio and music house in holloway road. dom has been searching for this holy grail of -amen choppage- since, the only reference to it a crusty recording of a grooverider show from 1998. at various points there have been glimmers of hope of the wearabouts of the track in its entirety, with much excitement from avid followers who have given -the trap- a status akin to a cult classic film. many years, rifled sheds, boxes and lofts later, the breakthrough everyone is waiting for happens. it is christmas 2016 and a subversive character from australia sends in the full original quality version, recorded from dat tape, to dom & roland productions hq. after a full going over in dom�s lab and a wonderful new mastering job by beau at 1087 the amen legend known only as -the trap- is ready to be unleashed. swarm � dom & roland depending on who you ask the dubplate of this track from 1996 was called dark skies or the swarm. one of the first tracks to feature dom s reworked alternating clean and distorted -flow break- which later went on to become a layer in dom s famous -tramen- break. swarm features the switch from light to dark dom has become famous for. featuring one of the largest mentasm basses ever cut on a record alongside the -subway- thump bass that dom later used when producing the -ed rush hit record- of the same name. it has remained an exclusive gem in dom s vaults until now. originally only cut on plate by the a list of metalheadz blue note, this blueprint of bass is finally seeing a release this year. dj play: aphex twin, amon tobin, fabio, grooverider, peshay, loxi, andy c, break, fierce, doc scott, dbridge, goldie, ant tc1, gridlok, marcus intalex, sb81, ulterior motive, noisia

when promoting the release of figure-ground�s �ep 5�, released december 2016 it was finally announced that the previously anonymous modular duo were in fact dronelock�s alexander church and boris brenecki from ontal. so now the cat�s out of the bag it seems fitting that figure-ground should have this outing on the dronelock / ontal co-run label, shadow story. add to that a collaboration with one of the uk�s finest electronic artists and figure-ground fan, paul mac and you know you�re set for some beautifully worked productions from this trio of talent. teasing and playing with the hardware throughout the ep, they�ve stayed within the realms of techno to create mind-melting and dance floor devastation across 6 tracks. from �virtues values & venom� itself that opens with gusto, before erratic beat experimentation on �eightfold path�, the frenetic �digital dialectic�, which also gets a second more staccato outing on version 2, �noble habitus� with its machine-funk to the subterranean �nativism�, it�s obviously been an enjoyable ride and that translates to the listener.
